The second round of group stage fixtures comes to a close on Tuesday with Croatia and Portugal in need of points to boost their chances of making the 2026 World Cup knockout rounds.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Co underwhelmed in their opening fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo, only mustering a 1-1 draw that puts pressure on Portugal to claim all three points against Uzbekistan in Houston.

Croatia’s 4-2 loss to England means the 2018 finalists are similarly under pressure as they prepare to take on Panama in Toronto. The Three Lions, however, are firmly on course for a place in the last 32.

Here is your complete guide on how to watch today’s World Cup games, including kick-off times, broadcast networks and online streaming options.

What to watch for

Portugal struggled for open-play creativity in their 1-1 draw against DR Congo, with Ronaldo coming under scrutiny for his lack of productivity. Roberto Martínez could make changes for the match against Uzbekistan, but does he dare drop his superstar from the lineup?

Uzbekistan’s first-ever World Cup game ended in a 3-1 defeat to Colombia that highlighted the lack of top-end talent available to manager Fabio Cannavaro. The White Wolves will set up to frustrate Portugal, but they may lack the counterattacking threat that DR Congo posed.

Player to watch: Bruno Fernandes, Portugal – The Manchester United midfielder could be the antidote to Portugal’s issues in creating from open play. Fernandes will surely have more of an influence on this match than he did against DR Congo.

What to watch for

England produced arguably the most complete performance of any of the main contenders when they put four goals past Croatia in their opening fixture. Not only are Thomas Tuchel’s side well-drilled, but they have shown a capacity to entertain, marking a big difference from the Gareth Southgate era.

Ghana needed a late winner from Caleb Yirenkyi to overcome Panama in the opener. However, the Black Stars were less than convincing in their overall performance, hinting that England may even be able to rest some of their key players and still take another step forward in their World Cup campaign.

Player to watch: Harry Kane, England – The Bayern Munich striker bagged a brace against Croatia, but was also England’s most effective creator and link-up player in the final third. Kane is simply the best all-round center forward in the world right now.

What to watch for

Panama suffered stoppage-time heartbreak in their opener against Ghana, meaning Thomas Christiansen’s side need at least three points from their final two group games against Croatia and England to realistically stand any chance of progressing. That will be a challenge.

Croatia showed glimpses of their talent even in defeat to England. They will be firm favourites to secure three points against Panama, although concerns remain over the age profile of Zlatko Dalić’s team. Can Luka Modric and Co still perform at the highest level?

Player to watch: Petar Musa, Croatia – The FC Dallas frontman found the back of the net against England and is expected to keep his place as Croatia’s starting striker for the meeting with Panama. Musa is using the World Cup as a platform to show his true level.

What to watch for

Colombia took a big step towards securing their place in the knockout rounds by beating Uzbekistan in their opening fixture, and the South Americans will fancy their chances of following up with another positive result against DR Congo, especially if Luis Díaz shows up in a similar way.

DR Congo defended well in their 1-1 draw with Portugal, but also posed a meaningful threat on the counterattack. That could also be a factor in the meeting with Colombia although DR Congo will surely have more possession than they did in their opening fixture. That could shift the dynamic.

Player to watch: Luis Díaz, Colombia – The Bayern Munich winger is in the form of his life and is Colombia’s primary difference-maker down the left side and in the final third.
