The availability of Christian Pulisic remains a major talking point amongst USMNT camp.
Pulisic starred as the US kicked off their World Cup campaign in style on Friday with a history-making 4-1 win over Paraguay in Group D.
Christian Pulisic grabbed an assist as USMNT made history in their World Cup opener against ParaguayGettyThe 27-year-old was at his dynamic best throughout the first half, cutting through Paraguay’s defense to force an own goal for USMNT‘s first of this summer’s tournament.
Pulisic then set up Folrian Balogun for the US’s second — but as the teams took to the field for the second half, he was substituted for Sebastian Berhalter.
It was revealed by the midfielder after the game that he had been kicked in the back of his left calf, and the substitution was a precautionary move.
USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino said Pulisic was struggling to walk during the half time interval, hence the substitution.
With USMNT’s next fixture against Australia kicking off on Friday in Seattle, fans got an unwelcome update from USMNT’s training ground.

On Monday, Pulisic practiced away from the rest of his teammates in what they called a ‘modified training session [and] gym and individual field work.’
Pochettino said the midfielder was ‘good’ in a brief answer to concerns, but worried US fans weren’t too pleased with the news.
“Not good that he is training solo 3 days after being subbed off at half time,” one concerned fan said.
“USA need him badly, that’s not good news that he is training solo,” a second added.
“He needs to be fit and ready, I don’t like the sound of that,” a third commented.

Despite the fact Pulisic was training alone, midfielder Tyler Adams was upbeat about the chances of him starting on Friday.
His update on Pulisic was more in-depth than Pochettino’s one-word response.
“Christian will be ready, everyone. Let’s relax,” Adams said, via Sports Illustrated.
“I think he picked up a knock a few days before the match and got kicked in the same spot again during the match.
“I think that he picked up a knock a few days before the game, and I think he got kicked in the same spot again during the game.
“And when you go in at half-time, things obviously get tight within the 15, 20 minute break. But he’ll be fine.”
Adams has urged fans to ‘relax’ after finding out that Pulisic trained separatelyGettyUSMNT will be hoping that Pulisic will be healthy enough to feature against the Aussies on Friday, and break yet more history.
USMNT’s three-goal margin of victory against Paraguay was the United States’ largest at a World Cup since the inaugural tournament in 1930.
Folarin Balogun earned a perfect 10 out of 10 performance, scoring twice in the first half to become the first American with two goals in a World Cup fixture.
Despite Mauricio pulling one back for Paraguay, Giovanni Reyna’s late strike added more shine to a magnificent display by the co-hosts.
