Real Madrid have moved quickly to wrap up deals for Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva ahead of the new season.
The arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new manager has seen the club put in a lot of effort to bring in the players the manager wants for his project.
Now, according to journalist Jose Manuel Moreno (h/t RM4ARAB), Dumfries has asked Los Blancos to delay the announcement of his signing until after the Netherlands finish their World Cup campaign.
The former Inter Milan wing-back did not want any distractions while he was taking part in the tournament.
Dumfries would arrive from Inter Milan for around €20 million after several seasons at the Italian club.
A sensible request from the player

This request from the 30-year-old should not be a problem for Madrid. A player asking to keep the focus on a World Cup shows professionalism, especially when the Netherlands are still competing.
Madrid have no urgent sporting need to announce him today if the important parts of the operation are already under control.
The club can wait for the right moment, avoid unnecessary distraction and still bring him into Mourinho’s plans once the tournament ends.
Dumfries has also been performing well for the Netherlands. In their 5-1 win over Sweden, he produced two assists and completed a strong all-round performance, showing the physical power and attacking threat that explain Madrid’s interest.

For Mourinho, the move makes a lot of sense. Dumfries is not a typical conservative full-back. He is powerful, direct, strong in the air and capable of arriving high in the final third.
Madrid already have Trent Alexander-Arnold in that position, and together, the duo should be able to hold down the right flank for the upcoming season.
The key will be role management. At 30, he is not a long-term prospect, but he can be a very useful competitive piece for the next phase of the team.
Dumfries continues to be an important part of the Netherlands team. He will need to have a good tournament if the Oranje want to go deep.
From this request, it is obvious that Madrid are signing a player with experience, professionalism and a profile Mourinho can use immediately. The announcement can wait, as long as the deal is secure.
