Barcelona captain to hold future talks after World Cup amid strong Saudi Arabia interest

According to SPORT, FC Barcelona winger and captain Raphinha remains a major target for Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, but any formal discussions regarding his future have been postponed until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Brazilian winger, currently focused on international duty with Brazil, has reportedly received initial approaches from Al Hilal and is willing to listen to their proposal.

However, he has made it clear that his immediate priority is the World Cup and does not want transfer negotiations to become a distraction.

Raphinha has already spoken with the Saudi club and asked them to wait until the conclusion of Brazil’s tournament before opening serious talks.

Despite Brazil’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Morocco in their opening match, the Barcelona forward remains confident that the Selecao can challenge for a sixth World Cup title.

For that reason, he prefers to devote all his attention to football rather than contractual discussions.

Saudi Arabian teams long-term admirers of Raphinha

This is not the first time Saudi Arabia has attempted to lure Raphinha away from Europe.

Two years ago, Al Hilal presented a massive proposal worth around €185 million in wages over a four-year contract.

At that time, the Brazilian ultimately chose to remain at Barcelona after the arrival of Hansi Flick, whose trust and tactical system helped elevate his performances.

Now, the Saudi club have renewed its interest and view Raphinha as one of their primary targets for the upcoming season.

The club hierarchy sees Raphinha as a marquee signing capable of helping them return to the top of Saudi football. Manager Simone Inzaghi would welcome the Brazilian’s arrival, while his signing could potentially trigger further changes in the squad.

The Riyadh-based club now faces a decision: wait for Raphinha to finish the World Cup or pursue alternative targets.

Barcelona’s position

For now, neither Barcelona nor the player appear to be actively pushing for a separation.

Raphinha remains one of the key figures in Flick’s project and is highly valued within the dressing room. However, the financial scale of any Saudi offer could become significant for all parties involved.

At present, Raphinha has not accepted or rejected Al-Hilal’s interest. Instead, he has chosen to delay any decision until Brazil’s World Cup journey comes to an end.

Once the tournament is over, discussions are expected to intensify and a clearer picture of his future should emerge.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have already strengthened their attack with the arrival of Anthony Gordon, providing additional depth on the left wing.
