The second big World Cup Sunday of the 2026 FIFA World Cup featured five matches.

Still in the early hours, in the THOUSANDTH match in World Cup history, Japan thrashed Tunisia 4-0, knocking the Africans out early.

The same scoreline was posted by Spain against Saudi Arabia at the start of the afternoon this June 21.

With the Saudi net shaken by Lamine Yamal, the Spanish and Barcelona jewel entered a World Cup ranking that includes King Pelé.

In Belgium vs. Iran, meanwhile, the scoreless draw refused to leave the board.

The Africans, in fact, once again caused a stir on social media with their first-ever World Cup goals.

On top of that, since then-"surprise package" Senegal in 2002, Cape Verde became the first debutant team to finish the second round of the World Cup undefeated.

Finally, Egypt claimed their first-ever World Cup victory by coming from behind to beat New Zealand 3-1.

And the historic feat became even more special, since the stars (at least in their nicknames/surnames) Zico, Salah and Trezeguet found the New Zealand net.
