Bournemouth star Alex Scott has been told why a move to Arsenal might be the right transfer this summer.

The 22-year-old had a breakout season at the Vitality Stadium and almost made it into England’s World Cup squad.

Across 37 appearances, he impressed making things tick in the Cherries’ engine room.

In the Premier League he got three goals and assisting another, while also getting a goal in the FA Cup.

With his good form, Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel registered his interest in the player, calling him into their preparation camp for the 2026 tournament having also called him up to the senior squad last November.

Unsurprisingly, a host of Premier League clubs have been linked with his services.

talkSPORT previously told you that Liverpool and Manchester United were interested in his services, with Arsenal also on the case.

Bournemouth value Scott at £80million and were hopeful he would sign a new deal with a release clause, similar to one Antoine Semenyo had.

Latest talk had put his value at £60m but that was a price that stunned talkSPORT Drivetime host Darren Bent.

He said: “This is where transfer fees are crazy. I get it. Elliot Anderson is brilliant but, I’m saying, he’s not £40m better than Alex Scott.”

Arsenal fan and Premier League 100 Club member Bent was then asked if he’d have Scott at the Emirates.

He replied: “If he comes to Arsenal, I’m just not sure where he plays because you’ve got [Martin] Zubimendi who is the holder, or [Myles] Lewis-Skelly, then you have [Declan] Rice as the No.8.

“You know what though, I’d take him at Arsenal because he’ll get so many minutes. He’s a top player and, you never know, he can force his way in.”

He was joined by co-host Rory Jennings, a Chelsea superfan, who joked Scott isn’t the type of player they would sign.

He laughed: “Yeah, he’s good. He’s half decent, exactly. No, also, from his perspective, he needs to be playing for a club that’s in Europe, doesn’t he?”

Bent added a word of caution: “He has had a wonderful season But I always think it’s that next level.

“Going to play for Arsenal or Manchester United, when you’re in the Champions League and all these different various competitions, the expectation goes through the roof.”

Scott might not fancy moving to the red side of north London though having previously posted pictures of himself wearing a retro Tottenham shirt.
