Kansas City police have launched a manhunt for a 22-year-old man who allegedly shot one person dead and injured four others.

Oscar Sanchez-Munoz is alleged to have been involved in a deadly shooting and crash at approximately 6:30pm on Tuesday evening.

The 22-year-old also stands accused of firing upon three other vehicles in a shooting spree across the city.

How close were the shootings to England’s World Cup base in Kansas City?

According to the KCPD, officers had been notified of shootings at five separate locations.

One of the alleged shootings took place on Prospect Avenue, which is situated an estimated 15-minute drive from where England set up their World Cup base.

Police state the first shooting took place at approximately 6pm near Interstate 670 and Wyoming.

The last shooting, which occurred in close proximity to Truman Road and Bennington Avenue, resulted in the driver crashing his vehicle into a pole.

He later died in hospital.

Police then descended upon a home where Sanchez-Munoz was suspected to be hiding out.

Following a stand-off that lasted several hours, police entered the property but did not find Sanchez-Munoz, with the 22-year-old described by investigators as ‘armed and dangerous’.

The vehicle believed to be involved in the alleged shootings was found at the home.

Residents have been told to call 911 or the TIPS hotline for any information regarding the 22-year-old’s whereabouts.

“We are hot on the trail of this subject and we want to make sure he’s taken into custody as soon as possible,” Kansas City police chief Stacey Graves said.

“I want people to know that the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department is out here protecting and serving.

“We have a lot of law enforcement agencies here in Kansas City not only to keep Kansas City safe but also World Cup events.

“That’s one of the reasons we brought in a lot of outside law enforcement, so we could keep those events safe and make sure we have enough officers to police our city.”

England’s chaotic experience in Kansas City

Thankfully, the England players and coaches were not in Kansas City during Sanchez-Munoz’s rampage as they were in the middle of their World Cup opener against Croatia in Houston.

The Three Lions emerged 4-2 victors as they got off to a winning start thanks to a double from Harry Kane along with goals from Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford.

But that doesn’t take away from what has been a chaotic build-up for England off the pitch.

Two men were charged with one felony count each of receiving stolen property after England had several pieces of equipment nicked ahead of their first training session in Kansas City.

The total value of the missing equipment, which included football boots, goalkeeper gloves, electronic equipment and numerous signed England jerseys, was estimated to be $18,000 (£13,467).

Thankfully most of the stolen property was recovered.

England also had to contend with wild weather as players and staff were told to shelter in place at their base camp due to severe thunderstorms.
