Serie A side Napoli saw talent Antonio Vergara impress at the end of the year before he fell prey to an injury. Even if the winger is attracting attention in Italy and abroad, the Partenopei have made a decision.
Corriere dello Sport – via AreaNapoli, report that Como and Tottenham are interested in the Italian.
Even if Napoli had initial doubts about keeping Vergara, they are firmly in favour of having him at the club beyond this summer.
He has a contract that runs out in 2030 and they have confidence Vergara will reach the next level. The player is also keen on staying, despite Tottenham and Como’s interest. He feels he can make an impact under Max Allegri and put his injury woes behind him.
Big call comes at the right time
Considering how Vergara had little time to make a mark even when he was playing, he needs some more consistency at Napoli. Only that will show that he is the real deal and a move away now can be a big risk for his career.
He needs to firmly take the first step before going further and staying where he is remains the best choice.
