Facundo Medina (27) has stood out in Argentina’s opening 2026 FIFA World Cup games. His club, Olympique de Marseille, are not opposed to a sale this summer, as per a report from L’Équipe.
Medina joined Marseille from RC Lens last summer in a loan deal with an obligation to buy. That loan will be made permanent at the end of the month. The total value of the deal, including the loan fee, is €20m.
However, in financial difficulty and in need of funds, OM will be forced to sell players this summer. Medina has impressed at the World Cup. He has been an important part of a back line that has yet to concede a goal, whilst he also teed up Lionel Messi for his record-breaking goal against Austria.
The defender, capable of playing at centre-back or at left-back, will be allowed to leave the Vélodrome in the event of a good offer, L’Équipe understands.
