Spain were humbled by Cape Verde as they were held to a 0-0 draw in their World Cup opener and the pre-tournament favourites go in search of their first win on Sunday when they take on Saudi Arabia.

Cape Verde take on Uruguay, who were held to a 1-1 draw in their first game to leave Group H finely poised.

The four teams in Group G are also all locked on one point ahead of the clashes between Belgium and Iran and New Zealand and Egypt to complete Sunday’s fixtures.

Bet of the Day

Belgium -1 vs Iran @ 23/20

Belgium put in a lacklustre display against Egypt but the Pharaohs are a better team than Iran and the European nation should enjoy a bit more success going forward on Sunday.

The Red Devils also improved dramatically after Romelu Lukaku came off the bench and he should now come into the starting line-up after his contribution in the opener.

Iran played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with New Zealand in what was a fair result, but the All Whites are nowhere near the level of Belgium and Team Melli may struggle to cope with a Belgian side who will feel the need to respond.

Belgium beat Tunisia 5-0, Croatia 2-0 and the USA 5-2 in warm-up games and that suggests they can win with room to spare against Iran.

Lamine Yamal anytime goalscorer, Nico Williams anytime goalscorer & Mohamed Kanno to have 1+ shots on target @ 14/1

Spain pair Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams both started on the bench against Cape Verde, but the key forwards should come into the first XI on Sunday as La Roja can’t afford to drop points.

Yamal scored 16 goals in 28 La Liga games for Barcelona and also weighed in with six strikes in the Champions League.

Williams didn’t have quite as impressive a strike rate for Athletic Bilbao, but he does tend to step up in tournaments and he scored twice for Spain at the last European Championships, so he also looks capable of getting off the mark on Sunday.

A Saudi goal looks a big ask but they should be able to at least register a couple of shots on goal and Mohamed Kanno can test the keeper. The midfielder had two attempts against Uruguay, one of which was on target.

Acca

Lamine Yamal anytime goalscorer, Belgium -1, Uruguay -1 & Egypt vs New Zealand BTTS – Yes @ 20/1

Yamal is the pick of the potential scorers for Spain as he looked sharp after coming off the bench against Cape Verde.

The Barca youngster had two shots in around 20 minutes of action, so should get more chances if he is involved from the off and he can make at least one count.

Belgium to cover a -1 handicap is our Bet of the Day and Uruguay can also cover a -1 handicap against Cape Verde.

La Celeste had enough chances to beat Saudi Arabia comfortably in their opener and should be more efficient with their finishing in this second batch of games, while Cape Verde had keeper Vozinha to thank for their stalemate against Spain and the Blue Sharks are likely to give up plenty of chances against Uruguay.

Egypt are the deserved favourites against New Zealand but the better angle could be backing both teams to score.

Egypt have scored seven goals across their last five games but have conceded in their last two, while the Kiwis scored twice against Iran and in striker Chris Wood they have a forward who is capable of causing any defence problems.
