In a recent report, Foot Mercato mentioned that Sunderland forward Eliezer Mayenda is generating interest from France this summer. It has been stated that Stade Rennais are eyeing a move to sign the Spanish talent from the Black Cats in this transfer period.
Mayenda’s Impressive Rise In English Football
Mayenda managed to catch the eye at times with his performances as the focal point of Sunderland’s attack in the previous campaign. The 21-year-old banged in a couple of goals and grabbed one assist in 24 matches for the Black Cats last season across all fronts.
The Spanish talent is currently among the most gifted young strikers in the Premier League. Thus, it is no wonder that he is on the radar of Rennes this summer.
His current contract at the Stadium of Light will run out in the summer of 2030. Hence, the Black Cats are under no immediate pressure to cut him loose in this transfer period.

Should Sunderland Boss Regis Le Bris Cash In On Mayenda This Summer?
Mayenda is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the vision to engineer the odd chance for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet. Mayenda is primarily a centre-forward but can also function as a wide player if needed.
The Spanish sensation can chip in by scoring and creating the odd goal for his team in the final third. However, Mayenda has to find a way to be more consistent in front of the opponent’s goal. He is also quite inexperienced at the highest level and is firmly behind Brian Brobbey and Wilson Isidor in Sunderland’s pecking order.
At the moment, Maydenda is not guaranteed regular first-team starts for Regis Le Bris’ side next season. Thus, it makes sense for the player to leave the Wearside outfit in search of more game time in the coming seasons.
At 21, the future looks quite bright for Mayenda. However, the Black Cats might be better off cashing in on him and using the money generated from his potential sale to bring in a suitable replacement or strengthen other areas of their squad.
