Dyche was appointed at Turf Moor in October 2012, with the duo achieving Premier League promotion together in the 2013/14 season.

Spurs then made a move to bring Trippier to White Hart Lane at the end of the following campaign after the Clarets failed to beat the drop.

His switch to north London culminated in the first of his 54 England caps after making his debut in 2017.

And his free-kick against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final made him a household name – resulting in a transfer to Atletico Madrid the next year.

His move to Spain saw him create history by becoming the first man to win the LaLiga title with Atletico – doing so in the 2020/21 campaign.

His success didn’t stop there, as a return to England at Newcastle would follow in January 2022, where he helped the Magpies win their first domestic trophy in 70 years by lifting the Carabao Cup in 2025.

What did Sean Dyche say about Kieran Trippier?

Despite not working together in 11 years, Trippier, who recently joined newly-relegated Wolves, has left a lasting impression on former Everton boss Dyche.

Speaking on the World Cup weekend, Dyche was asked who was the best player he has worked with since his managerial career started at Watford in 2011.

Without batting an eyelid, Dyche said in response: “Trips, Kieran Trippier.

“When I had him as a youngster, he was like a bit of a butterball, but you could tell his talent, incredibly talented, way, way better.

“I mean, don’t get me wrong, people know he’s talented, but he’s a very, very good player.

“I always said he’s got a right foot like lefties, you know how lefties always seemed to have that wonderful left foot about them.

“He’s got, honestly, he’s got every club in the bag in his right foot, he can do anything, yeah.

“And a great lad, and a great lad, I still see him now, still speak to him now. Fantastic.

“And my fondest memory, he FaceTimed me when they won LaLiga on the pitch.

“That’s my fondest memory – apart from winning things – but for an ex-player to do that was…

Dyche revealed how Trippier was quick to speak to him after he clinched the LaLiga trophyGetty

“I nearly had a tear, I’m not the tear guy, nearly had a tear, one just nearly popped over, you know when you do the old wide eyes just in case one pops over the rim.”

Which team does Dyche want to manage?

Dyche was also pressed as to which team he would most want to manage before he retires.

And he once again stressed that Manchester United are in a league of their own – one year after pitching for the job in case Ruben Amorim departed.

He remarked: “I think, there’s so many you could throw in there, but I think Man U, just because I remember the glory days of Sir Alex [Ferguson] and the Theatre of Dreams and all them things.

“Played down [at Old Trafford in the FA Cup] semi-final [in 1997 against Middlesbrough] with Chesterfield.

“I always enjoyed going there as well as a manager as well, it always seemed to go all right there.

Dyche lost just five of his ten trips to the Theatre of Dreams

“I mean, [I] didn’t always win, but we played pretty well, had some good results there.”

Before adding: “[And to] try and have your chance to try and bring it back to where it once was under Sir Alex.”
