PSG interest in France national team defender assessed by top insider

PSG interest in Jules Kounde of Barcelona was rumoured this week, although it’s since been dismissed by other sources.

A rumour about a potential signing for PSG has been dismissed today by Spanish sources.

Journalist Alex Rodriguez Sanchez put forward the idea this week that Jules Kounde could be a target for PSG, with manager Luis Enrique apparently pushing for the Barcelona star who is currently at the World Cup with the French national team.

The idea was that PSG could sign Kounde for a discount fee, with Bradley Barcola then going in the other direction for a similar discount, helping both sides keep their spending for the summer reasonable.

Kounde’s time to return has not yet come

However, follow up reports from well known PSG insider Djamel cast doubt on that idea.

PSG are sorted with Achraf Hakimi at right back, and plenty of talent centrally. We can certainly see Kounde coming back to France one day – but this summer doesn’t seem the right moment.

As for Barcola to Barca, it’s possible, but the Spanish side would have to pay pretty serious money, and without major sales we’re not sure where it would come from. For now, this is just one to watch in the background…
