Liverpool forward one step closer to homecoming deal

One of the most talked-about players heading into the summer transfer window is Nico Paz.

The Argentine playmaker is currently away at the FIFA World Cup but his future is set to be decided this week. Paz, 21, joined Como in 2024 from Real Madrid with Los Blancos securing a highly-favourable return clause as well as 50 percent of his rights.

For a fee of around €9m according to various reports Madrid can welcome the left-footed attacker back this summer and take control of his transfer destiny.

A meeting is scheduled for this week according to various sources - after which Paz could become a Real Madrid first-team squad member or - more likely - sold for a mammoth fee.

Paz sale will have an impact on Chiesa

Inter Milan are reported to be keen on striking a deal - either with Madrid or else with Como in the event that Madrid don’t exercise their clause. And once Paz’s future is sorted out it will push one Liverpool attacker closer to the exit.

Federico Chiesa, 28, was bought by Liverpool in 2024 from Juventus for a fee that could reach £12.5m.

Although the winger is a Premier League title winner it hasn’t been a memorable spell on Merseyside with a return to Italian football now mooted this summer.

Como want deal for Chiesa

Como are among the teams currently linked with his signature and Paz’s imminent departure could well open the door to Chiesa moving to Cesc Fabregas’s club.

Of course a slot would open up in the lineup for Chiesa - who earns around £150k per week at Anfield. And Como - who have been struggling to finance the deal considering Liverpool’s €20m valuation - would all of a sudden have a lot more money to play with.
