Jeremy Clarkson made a couple of football fans very happy ahead of England’s World Cup 2026 game against Ghana, with the TV presenter giving away two tickets to the match.

The Clarkson’s Farm star, 66, is currently in Boston to cover the FIFA World Cup, which began on June 11 and will be hosted jointly by 16 cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Last night (Tuesday 23 June) saw England draw with Ghana in their second match of the group stage after both teams failed to score a goal.

While England fans were desperate to get their hands on tickets to the game, Clarkson wanted to give his away – revealing that he no longer needed two tickets in the stands as he didn’t want to sit in the rain.

“Right, here I am in Boston, for the match obviously,” he said in a video posted to X on Tuesday. “I’m trying my hand at being a football correspondent for The Sun newspaper and I had two tickets from them and then it’s raining so I thought, ‘I don’t want to be outside.’”

Instead, Clarkson decided to give them away to two fans as he had plans to watch the match from “a posh box” anyway.

“I found these chaps. This is Gary and that’s Derry. They didn’t have any tickets for the match,” he said, before panning his phone camera to two Brits – electrical engineer Gary Collier and semi-professional footballer Derry Robson – wearing England tops.

“We’ve got one. We’ve been trying all morning for them. Thank you very much,” Collier said, while Robson added: “We’re very appreciative.”

“Absolute pleasure,” Clarkson said. “Enjoy the match, chaps.”

After the match, Robson – who is a semi-professional footballer himself for the Pontefract Collieries in West Yorkshire – wrote on X: “England away, thanks to @jeremyclarkson what a top guy!”

Clarkson had been trying to give away his tickets earlier in the day, writing on X: “I have two tickets for the England game in Boston this afternoon. Anyone want them?”

He followed it up with a second tweet, writing: “I’m in Boston and I have these 2 spare tickets. To get them, you need to be in Boston too.”

Clarkson revealed in the penultimate episode of Clarkson’s Farm this month that he had been diagnosed with cancer, having kept it from the public since 2025.

At the weekend, Clarkson said in an update that he is now officially in remission after “cheating death twice”.

Opening up about some of the changes he’s made to his lifestyle after requiring heart surgery for blocked arteries and his cancer recovery, Clarkson told The Times: “I drive much more slowly. I’m a bit of a dawdler. I go for walks a lot. I have vegetarian food.”

England’s football team will next play Panama in a Group Stage match on Saturday 27 June.
